THERMALAIR “Creating the perfect environment”

Recently completed has been the development at
Stow-Cum-Quy, near Cambridge. Carried out for Jaygate Commercial, Thermalair installed Daikin equipment throughout the complex.

Quy Court

System Description

Heating and cooling are provided by individual heat pump air conditioning systems in each office unit, utilising high level wall-mounted room units throughout. The pipework for the systems is contained above the ceilings on each floor before passing out of the building to run generally in underground ducts to the outdoor units in the plant areas.

Two wall-mounted remote controllers are fitted on both floors of each office unit, one to control the units along the front wall and the other for those along the rear wall. Overall time control for both floors is provided by 7-day programmer mounted adjacent to the ground floor controllers, except in Office 9 where a second programmer is fitted on the first floor.

Design Performance

The system was designed to maintain the following internal temperatures under the specified conditions allowing for an occupancy level of 1 person and 1 personal computer per 10 square metres of floor space approximately, and assuming that all windows receiving direct sunlight will be equipped with internal blinds:

Cooling: 22ºC when the outside temperature is 29ºC
Heating: 21ºC when the outside temperature is –1ºC

System Description

Heating and cooling of each office unit are provided by two separate air conditioning systems, one serving the ground floor with high level wall-mounted units and the other serving the first floor by means of low level units. The pipework for both systems is contained above the ground floor ceiling, dropping in the corner of the kitchen to run underfloor to the outdoor units in the external plant room, adjacent to each office unit.

In units 1, 2, 5 and 6, two wall-mounted remote controllers are fitted on each floor, one to control the units along the front wall and the other for those along the rear wall. In units 3, 4, 7 and 8 the room units are operated by hand-held infra-red remote controllers. Overall time control for both floors of each office unit is provided by a 7-day programmer located on the ground floor adjacent to the kitchen/toilets.
